Five on Friday

Clearly it was a huge week in the W household. In case you missed it we finally let the Internet world in on our little secret we've been keeping since January! Read about it HERE! So it's definitely been a great week, no complaints here! I plan on starting my weekly bump-dates next week so stay tuned for those. :)

1) Our sweet pup announced to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter that she was going to be a big sister. We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from our sweet family and friends. It's nice to have it out in the open.

2) We had a baby appointment on Tuesday for our first trimester scan. We got to see our sweet little bean for the second time and I swear I fall more in love each time we get to see him/her. Our doctor said that everything is looking wonderful! We are 13 weeks today.

Introducing Baby W! Look at that little nose. Ahhh!

3) Might have given into a pregnancy craving and made funfetti cookie sandwiches. I really don't normally indulge in sweets but I just couldn't resist. Woops. They may or may not have been the most delicious cookies ever. So I really don't feel too bad.

4) The hubs in playing golf on Sunday so I'm therefore treating myself to a pedicure. I haven't had one since the summer and I cannot wait. My piggy toes will appreciate it for sure.

5) I have every intention of doing some spring cleaning to our abode this weekend. It's supposed to rain ALL day tomorrow and I hope and pray that it encourages me to clean and not lay in bed and watch ABC family movies. We'll see how it goes. :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Walters Party of 4

Derik, Kendall and I have some very exciting news!

Baby Walters is expected to arrive October 4th, 2014! We couldn't be more thrilled. It came as quite a shock at first because this sweet baby was not apart of "our plan" quite yet. We both have always had a strong desire to be parents but we saw me finishing graduate school, getting a big girl job, and us a little more settled first. However, the Lord saw things going a little bit differently and we are so glad that He did. From the day we found out and shared with our families we've felt nothing but love and support and for that we are truly grateful! We've tried keeping our secret under wraps as best as we could but my frequent dashes to the restroom multiple times a day (in both public and at home) made that quite difficult. As of today, we are 12 weeks and 5 days and looking forward to hopefully no more puking as we enter the second trimester! I'm also looking forward to the magical burst of energy people keep telling me about. I've been in bed by 8:30 sometimes even earlier for the most part these last 7 weeks!

We announced it on Facebook and Instagram last night and are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love already shown to baby Walters! What wonderful friends and family this sweet baby will grow up being surrounded by. We couldn't be more thankful for our amazing support system we have in our families and also our friends.

I also couldn't post this blog without giving a HUGE shout out to the hubs. He has had to eat his fair share of gluten free spaghetti my main craving. Sit on the opposite side of the room from me while eating eggs, hot sauce, or ranch, all sound disgusting at the moment. He also has really taken up the slack when it comes to household chores when I just can't seem to get off the couch. He's also had to finish cooking multiple times because I couldn't handle the smells and then proceed to clean the dishes because eating a full meal often times felt like a running a marathon. He's listened to my 4am worries (may have been half asleep but he's tried), dealt with my random crying spells lesson learned don't make fun of my socks, and not even batted an eye when I've gone from laughing to crying. He's been a champ through it all and I know he is going to be a wonderful father. I'm also fairly certain he's coming around to the idea of the chance of it being a girl and no longer threatening to send it back. He knows he's done for if it's a girl, the women in his life tend to wrap him around their little fingers pretty quickly. I think once our sweet niece is old enough she will agree with me.

We are so excited to share this journey with y'all and will ask for continued prayers and baby Walters grows and develops. We are so thankful the Lord chose us to be the Earthly parents to this baby because it is His ultimately and we couldn't be grateful or thankful for this experience!

High Five it's Friday.

Is it just me or has this been one extremely slooowww moving week? I just knew ALL day yesterday that it was Friday.  I think the sunny and high of 75 forecasted for tomorrow has just been teasing us all week and causing time to move extra slow. However, it is now Friday and with the weekend just a few hours away I'm letting out a huge sigh of relief. Onto my five favorite things this week!

1) First Day of Spring!

Thankful for spring and the newness and rejuvenation it brings. After the winter we've had I think everyone is looking forward to spring, even the allergies. I saw this picture and couldn't help post it on Instagram it is the epitome of spring in my eyes! 2 Corinthians 5:17 He makes all things new!

2) Did y'all fill out a bracket? I most certainly did not. The hubs however did and sadly thanks to Ohio State we did not win a billion dollars. Good thing I hadn't put a down payment on a fancy new car....I love March Madness..basketball stays on in our house. You may lose a finger if you try changing it. GO HEELS! :)

3) Have y'all taken any of the BuzzFeed quizzes going around Facebook like wildfire? At the 3am hour I've been seeing too much the past few weeks these quizzes have become pretty entertaining. From "Which TV Show/Movie high school do you belong in" to "Which I Love Lucy character are you" I think I've taken them all. Ellen took one on her show and the results were hilarious. Ellen is too funny.

4) Lots and lots of friends have shared that they are expecting sweet little bambinos the past few weeks, I couldn't be happier for you all! Babies are such blessings! Can't wait to meet and snuggle them all.

5) I'll leave y'all with another YouTube video. Because I'm just that excited it's Friday. It will most certainly make you smile and maybe dance around too. No shame, it's FRIDAY! :)
Happy Friday loves!

Ice Ice Baby...

But really, another ice day is upon us making winter 2014 officially the most bipolar season I've ever ran across. We went from a lovely 70 degrees on Saturday to ice hitting the windows on Monday. Seriously? Enough old man winter go on somewhere! Since we're actually staying in town this weekend I plan on getting our house spring decorated and I simply cannot wait. Maybe old man winter will get the hint and pack up and leave. With that being said here is what I am looking forward to this spring.

1) Celebration of rebirth and new life. Spring is always a beautiful time. The trees come back to life, the grass turns back to a lush green, and we also celebrate the death and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. Christ came to Earth to die and rise again so that we may have new, everlasting life with Him.

2) I'm telling you that time change last weekend was pretty sweet. I'm loving the extra hours of sunlight--when he decides to make his appearance--although waking up in the dark and it being dark the majority of  my getting ready process slows me down a bit. But hey, I'll take it for the longer days!

3) Warmer weather. Amen and Amen. I'm so over ice and snow and know 100% I would not survive if I moved up north. Ok slightly overdramatic I'd survive but wouldn't be a happy camper.

4) White jeans. I have a slight obsession and I cannot wait to wear my white jeans again. White jeans with a colorful top and sandals. CAN'T. WAIT.

5) Dresses and shorts because they are just so much easier than jeans, boots, sweaters, scarves, coats, gloves, socks, aka LAYERS.

5) Starburst jelly beans. Let's be serious I've already been through a bag or two....

7) The hubby and I celebrate our first wedding anniversary two months from today. Seriously can't believe almost a year has gone by since we said our I do's. Love that man.

8) Front porch sitting and backyard grilling. We had like two or three days in a row of upper 70's and they were pure bliss. We spent an entire Sunday afternoon outside between our front porch and back patio. We grilled steaks, pork chops, corn on the cob, veggies, ah pure bliss. Bring on the warmer weather.

9) March Madness and the Big Dance. This past weekend was the ACC tourney and it was basketball from Wednesday night to Sunday afternoon and this made for happy Walters. Tonight begins the play in games for the NCAA tournament. Please let Roy's Boys at least make it further than Dookies. Amen.

10) Spring cleaning. I can't wait to have a weekend and start purging stuff!

What are y'all looking forward to the most?

Ugh I'm terrible.

It's been too many weeks since my last post y'all. My intent for this blog is a way to document our life and letting it sit for weeks on a Five on Friday post is just not cutting it. My bad. We've had one of the craziest winters this year. Last week we had highs in the 60's then a paralyzing ice storm. Our little town was put on halt for a few days. 80% of Duke Energy customers in our county lost power. Y'all it looked like a war zone around here. Trees literally everywhere, power lines just hanging out in front yards or the middle of the road, and places that actually had power packed full. Thankfully, we kept power the whole time. So we in turn shared our power and had sweet friends stay with us, take warm showers, recharge electronics, and recharge themselves. Although, it was a pain it forced everyone to slow down and enjoy each other's company. A blessing in disguise.

It is also spring break and this burnt out student has loved every minute of my extra free time. I'm also itching to start decorating for spring. I'm thinking if I pull out the spring decor that winter will get the memo and pack it up and hit the road. After being in the mid 70's Monday and Tuesday I'm over the snow, ice, and constantly being cold. I saw this on Etsy and it screams spring and the celebration of rebirth and our sweet Savior's death and resurrection. I may try to recreate this if the creativity strikes and the perfectionist in me doesn't take over completely.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Sarah
